Scott Z made a good point on another thread....trying to stir up some dialogue.  If you take a look at the number of views on the threads, you can see we are getting looked at.  The problem is, if some of those "lookers" don't comment, the whole concept, and probably the site, is going to die a slow lingering death.

For example, Bruce, was doing a good job with answering Referee Questions....and surely somewhere in the membership someone could stimulate conversation by bringing another one out there, but nobody has posted something up for him lately.

You see Jenny and Scott an a few others writing something, but I bet they don't want to be the only ones posting stuff.  Same here.

I know some people are afraid to post because they are afraid it will come back and bite them in their... uhh... hindquarters, but you know the old saw..."faint heart never won fair maiden", and vice versa, and it still holds true.

If you don't say anything in print that you wouldn't say in public, it is no problem.

C'mon guys (and gals), people have worked hard to create this forum for us, we gots to partake.

I have had enough email conversations with enough people in the membership to know that there are literate and savvy people out there...

Post something... Please?

Randy Waitman

Re: Participation
Thank you Master Waitman! You said it perfectly. One thing I would like to point out about this site: You'll notice that ALL the posts are signed, and on the left you can see the name of the person who submitted it.

Hopefully, we've eliminated the fear of being flamed by an 'anonymous' poster as on other sites. Also, as one of the rules of this site, no personal attacks will be tolerated by anyone. We are going to strictly enforce this rule to encourage positive, constructive conversations.

Thanks again Master Waitman.

Re: Participation
Well, right now I can't seem to think of much positive to say, so I have to confine my posting to OEPlayers.  But I think I have one for the Ref Doctor.

Re: Participation
I'll need help with this from our more experienced referee's out there. Is there a list of common complaints about refeering floating out there? If, so let's try to address these complaints in the forum. Also, not to lose the positive is there things we are doing right? Maybe from here we can provide positive input to our sport.

If you had a chance to read TRUE's letter to Mr. Askinas, (and it is still posted on our news page) you'll notice that we asked him what he felt were the problems with the referees, particularly the referee committee. Unfortunatly he was unable to provide us with any such problems. Perhaps when he has had a little more time on the job he'll be able to respond more completely to our letter.

Meanwhile, with the referee program pretty much disbanded, take a look at the Ref Doctor forum. Master Harris is itching to discuss issues of refereeing with all comers.
