Hey we need diversity at OE

A humble question Jeanette,

When you reffed your first tourney was it a career you were seeking, or were you just trying to help the kids have fun. Personally, I love sitting in the stands or walking in at noon(sorry I really try to skip poomsae) and having one of you see me and say can you center ring 4. I have never said no, I love it. Now that type of attitude is impossible at JO s or Nationals but my point is the attitude is not. And I suspect many have fun anyway. Not sure when the career ambition thing takes over cause I have never been up at that level. All I know is, things in this room are very stiff. I am not trying to change that. All I ever try to do is promote thought.

Also, I came over to see if Kimmiljung, Larry Cain, Ken MnN, Kim Sol, John Holloway and Master Dring and anyone else can come over to Grant s house(OE Players) and play. I know most of these guys and I don t see eye to eye but their input was always respected in the past and let me share something else. It made the referees people the athletes could hear and they all brought their years of TKD experience to the floor.

I know I learned from them. And Ken made a career out of break ummmm out of pointing things out to me. OE is not the National Enquirer of TKD. OE is fast becoming the CNN of TKD. Here and abroad. And Jeanette you can come too. There are too many issues happening simultaneously for you guys and girls to remain silent. I can t promise it will be gentle but I can say this. If Scorekeeper can sucessfully center OE all these years, he could center a match between N and S Korea in the middle of the DMZ. See I made you smile.....Have a good day

You can read my feelings and motivations about refereeing in the appropriate discussion forum.

I once posted to OEPlayers, in an attempt to inform people who cry for 'transparency' about an opportunity to hear the referee director candidates state their piece and to ask them questions face-to-face. It proved to be an unproductive exercise.

OEplayers serves a purpose I'm sure. Grant does his job as he sees it. I'm glad you're happy there. I like to have discourse with people who are not ashamed to sign their names to their communications.

Carl,

I can't say that I agree with you. OE the CNN of TKD? I'll agree with the first: National Enquirer. There is not one single reporter at CNN who wears a bag over his/her face.

You are one of the few who actually admit their identity. You are one of the few who have been involved in TKD in recent history and admit who you are. You are not an 'arm-chair' referee, or critic, from the past, who may or may not have worked in one Junior Olympics years ago, and I applaud you for that. The other players at OE have not been active in TKD recently and hide behind their aliases. I’m not saying all, but most.

If anyone wants to play, they are more than welcome to play here, where we all know each other.

You don’t have to be nice here. You don’t have to only post ‘positive’ messages. You don’t have to agree with anyone here. The TRUE administrators only ask that you don’t personally attack individuals. They strongly encourage open discussion. This is not a stiff room. Say what you want, disagree with everyone here, initiate discussion, just don’t hide in the dark. That is the purpose of this site.

We have diversity HERE. I’m sure everyone here will agree. Feel free to chime in.

Thank you,

Scott Zeiter

They both serve their purposes.  This board can be a place for serious discussion although the onus of having to have everything pre-approved by the parents will be a bit stifling.

OE is a place for everybody to vent with very little interference.  It's got to be way out of line to draw a warning over there.  But then, everything there that isn't signed or not associated with a known nickname needs to be given the appropriate credit even if it's none.

I'll continue to post here when I think it's beneficial to the community of referees that can't stand the infantile nonsense often found in 'my house', and I'll continue to provide a sandbox for the other kids as long as I can.

Re: Hey we need diversity at OE
Thanks Grant.

I'm glad you do recognize that some of the discussions over there can be a little infantile. And quite honestly, the discussions on the original TRUE mailing list (before this site) at times became infantile. That is the main reason our posts are moderated.

I guess everyone at TRUE is a little 'gun-shy' about allowing non-moderated posts. Hopefully, we'll all move past that someday soon and move to an un-moderated discussion forum.

Re: Hey we need diversity at OE

Nobody gets beat on more than me over there and alot of it is "infantile" but here is why I say. Because in order to pound on me they have to read and guess what, information, by osmosis gets through. And the way I look at it, most of the people who do attack leave themselves wide open. At this critical time however it does annoy me. And the reasons is, starting a JOH thread detracts from the real issues that need to be aired and discussed. If I had my druthers I would rather discuss why JOH is an idiot at the slow dull times.

Anyway, everyone in my house takes their shoes off upon entry. I get annoyed when they don t. So when i am here I will be serious....well I won t attack anyway. Serious all the time might be a bit much.  I have to inject a little humor from time to time lest we all take ourselves too seriously.

Anyway, let Dave know your feelings individually. He can put TRUE, the group down but he can t put individual members down. So come at him as USAT members. IMHO that is as it should be anyway. Members first referees second.
