Search Forum Home   Discussions  Events  Alaska Sub-Regi...  Alaska Sub-Regional Qualifier    1/31/2007 5:22:49 PM Michael Soper 33 posts Alaska Sub-Regional Qualifier On March 10, 2007 at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex at the University of Alaska-Anchorage, the Alaska State Taekwondo Association will be hosting the first USA Taekwondo Sub-Regional Qualifier. From what I have been told, it will be a National Qualifier open to anyone in the United States with the catch that only the top two (not four) competitors in each division will qualifiy for a chance at the World Class divisions in San Jose, California. USA Taekwondo will give official details as they become available. Personally, I can't wait for the event. I especially hope we will be able to host a few referees from the outside so I get the chance to see how many of us can fit into my 2 door Tercel. Looks like it is warmer and sunnier there than it is in Michigan.  2/7/2007 5:39:18 PM Michael Soper 33 posts Re: Alaska Sub-Regional Qualifier Temperatures were above 40 here last week, not things seem to have dipped back to normal around 10-20 degrees in the afternoon and 0-10 degrees at night. By the way, it hasn't been published by USA Taekwondo yet, but the Alaska Sub Regional Qualifier will tentatively be postponed until March 31. So, needless to say, I will not be in Texas this year for Collegiates. Hope everyone has fun in the hot Texas sun without me. I also heard they have a fairly good medium-sized state down there. Sorry, couldn't resist.  2/9/2007 8:11:45 AM Michael Soper 33 posts Re: Alaska Sub-Regional Qualifier According to the USA Taekwondo website, you may now register for the Alaska Sub-Regional Qualifier to be held on March 31 (Not March 9-10 as before). On-line registration is not available, only paper applications received by March 16 (March 23 at the absolute latest) and will be processed by mail. Please read the packet for more information. I see that you cannot register thru the USAT website; how does one go about registering?  2/21/2007 5:31:15 PM Michael Soper 33 posts Re: Alaska Sub-Regional Qualifier If anyone would like to compete or coach they will need to download the forms from the USA Taekwondo website and mail them to the attached address. The referee applications are to be mailed to Jeanna Mendoza in the USAT offices by March 9. All the necessary information is available for download at http://www.usa-taekwondo.us/624_1599.htm. I think we will have enough referees in the state to work the qualifier. We have been given special permission to allow our officials the opportunity to compete first thing in the morning and once all 14 and up black belt competition is finished they can officiate for the remainder of the day. However, if anyone is still interested please forward your referee applications to USA Taekwondo for processing.
