Hi Master Ferguson,
One of the other refs at the RingMaster tournament made this suggestion - I thought I would post it here incase he didn't get a chance to tell you and to see if others thought it might be a good idea or not...
A couple of times during a penalty situation, we had a hard time figuring out if a point had gone up that needed to be waived.
If the score would blink/flash/be a different color or some other visable indicator for approx 3 seconds after the score changed, then the center only needs only to glance at the screen when deciding on a penalty to determine if the point scored or not and therefore if it might need to be waived.
I think blinking or flashing might be to distracting, especially to the players, but if it could change colors - say green or black to the blue or red - maybe that would help things out.
Just an idea
Have a wonderful day!
Alice
Alice,
A good idea but difficult to implement. Information on the scoreboard has to be easy for everyone to view and understand - the less distractions the better. I am thinking about ways to make your suggestion happen. The best i have come up with so far is to have the score blink if the match is suspended and the score has changed within 3 or 4 seconds of the suspension. The problem with this is that the score blinks at the end of the match and it might be confusing to see it blink at some other time. I will be trying a few options out to see how they work.
